Scripture
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests and asked, “How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty pieces of silver. From that time on, Judas began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus. (Matthew 26:14-16)
Meditation
The son of God was betrayed by a friend. The son of God was betrayed by his creation for thirty pieces of silver.
Active Reflection
"Friend, do what you came to do."
Jesus was betrayed by someone he loved and trusted.
Take one of the coins from the bowl and hold it in your hand.
Feel the weight of it. Let it represent betrayal—whether you’ve experienced it or caused it.
While holding the coin, reflect on these questions in silence:
What does it cost to love someone, knowing they might hurt you?
What does it cost to stay faithful, even when trust is broken?
When you return to the center, place the coin back in the bowl and say quietly:
Even in betrayal, God does not abandon us.
